Areas of Practice
CHILDREN (AGES 6-12 YRS)
We utilize an integrative and collaborative approach when working with children ages 3+. Play Therapy, Sand Tray Therapy, Art, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy are treatment modalities utilized with children to help them find solutions, increase coping skills, and tell their story.
Children and families often face challenging times and it can be difficult finding support. If your child is highly emotional, anxious, withdrawn, or exhibiting undesirable behaviors at home or school, counseling can be the help and support you’ve been looking for. With young children, a child counselor will work individually with children through an interactive play based therapy and expressive arts, this allows the counselor to utilize the same “language” as the child, listening to their feelings and encouraging them to work through their struggles, while working together to form solutions and new skills through a cognitive behavioral perspective.

Young adults (ages 18+)
When working with children ages 6 to 9, I often utilize Play Therapy, Sand Tray Therapy, Art Therapy, and sometimes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Often younger children need to tell their story and express their feelings without using words. Experience is critical in the interpretation of non-verbal communication from children. Allowing children to express themselves spontaneously is vital to child therapy.
